Padel is easier to pick up than most racket sports, but the rules, the walls and the doubles format can feel like a lot at first. This clinic covers everything you need to play your first proper points with confidence and have fun doing it. What to expect: How the game works - A simple walkthrough of scoring, court layout and the key rules, so you know exactly what is going on from the first point Grip & ready position - Get comfortable holding the racket and standing in a balanced, alert position between shots Basic groundstrokes - Learn a simple, controlled forehand and backhand to rally consistently from the back of the court Introduction to the walls - Understand how the ball comes off the glass and how to give yourself time to let it come to you Net basics - A first look at the volley and why the net is where you want to be Serving & returning - Learn the underarm serve and a safe return so every point gets started properly Positioning with your partner - Understand where to stand, how to share the court and how to communicate in doubles Cooperative rally drills - Relaxed, progressive exercises to build rhythm and confidence Short games - Fun, low-pressure points and mini games to put everything together Who is it for? Complete beginners and anyone who has played a few times but wants to understand the game properly. No experience is needed, just a willingness to have a go and enjoy yourself. What to bring: Padel racket (available to hire if needed), court shoes and a water bottle. By the end of the session, you’ll understand how padel works, be able to rally and play simple points, and know exactly what to work on next.
