Most intermediate players know this, but knowing it and consistently getting there are two very different things. This clinic focuses on the decision-making, movement, and shot selection needed to take the net effectively, hold it under pressure, and convert your position into points. What to expect: When to transition – Develop the tactical awareness to recognise the right ball and the right moment to move forward, stopping the common habit of staying back when you should be attacking The approach shot – Learn how to play the ball that earns you the right to come to the net, whether a deep drive, a low ball into the feet, or a well-disguised lob, setting yourself up rather than gifting your opponents time Moving as a pair – Understand how to transition to the net in sync with your partner, covering the court effectively and avoiding the gaps that opponents will look to exploit The split step – Master the timing and mechanics of the split step so you arrive at the net balanced, alert, and ready to react to whatever comes back Holding the net under pressure – Practise staying composed and decisive when opponents throw up a lob or play a ball at your feet, two of the most common responses to a net transition The lob reset & re-transition – Learn what to do when you're pushed back off the net and how to work your way forward again rather than conceding the advantage Transition drills – Progressive exercises built around realistic approach and advance scenarios, developing timing, communication, and confidence moving forward Live point play – Structured point situations with a focus on recognising transition opportunities and executing the full sequence from back court to net dominance Who is it for?
